The smallpox quarantine has been raised from the B M Bond home. Mrs Effie Haverland returned Sunday from a short visit at Shedd. Mrs Pike was a week end vis itor with her daughter, Mrs Carl Koppe, in Eugene. A M Templeton of Brownsville, spent one day last week at the W R Kirk home. Redmond Pearl and 0 W Frum were on the jury part of this week. They returned home Wednesday morning. Rev and Mrs Brown of Mon roe, are assisting in the singing at the Methodist church three nights this week. A pleasant and profitable meet ing of the Woman’s Study Club was held on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs R A Temple ton. The roll call response was made practical by helpful garden hints. The lesson on vegetable gardening by Mesdames Morn- hinweg and Laubner was an in teresting one and was received with much enthusiasm, the gar den season being upon us. De licious refreshments were served at an artistically decorated table. St Patrick being honored as to place cards and napkins. The next meeting of the club will be at the home of Mrs J W Moore. She re turned Friday. Dr Adams of Eugene, was called to Halsey Monday to see Mrs E C Allen. D J Hayes arrived from Port- land Friday and is visiting his daughter Mrs J C Standish. Mr and Mrs James Bond of Al bany. are visiting their daugh ter, Mrs J W Moore. Harold Stevenson from 0 A C arrived here this week to visit his mother, who has been quite sick for a long time. Miss Helen Moore and Prof Patterson attended the oratorical contest at E B U at Eagene Friday evening. Mr Hammer of the Blain Clo thing Co, came up Wednesday evening and sang at the revival meeting. Quite a number came from Albany with him. Marion Kincaide, a fraternity brother from 0 A C spent Mon day evening with Roland Marks. On Tuesday Mr Faul Scea and Mr Layton from Corvallis num bers of the same fraternity came over to see him. Mrs M B Morrow arrived here Tuesday morning from Honolulu, where she had been for nearly four months. She will remain for a while with her mother, Mrs L A Pray. She reports her health as very much improved. One day last week C E Smith drove his team to town and tied it near the meat market, his di g being in the wagon, but tied. The dog becoming restless, jump ed out, and the rope not being long enough to let him clear to the ground, he hung there by the neck, just his hind feet touching the ground. The team became frightened and broke loose and started to run. the dog being drug by the neck and jumping with its hind legs. A car was gotten and took out afti r the team and overtook them ot t ir the country a ways. Fortu nately nothing was broken or hurt except that the dog had a stiff neck for a few days. U. S.
